Community Unites to Make Christmas Special for Local Families
On December 7th, 2019 local police and fire departments will join with Church at the Grove to help meet a practical need in the lives of children in our community and bridge the gap of division often existing between children with needs and law enforcement personnel. Children who are considered to be "at-risk" based upon a school counselor's evaluation will each be paired with a member of local law enforcement and given a $100 Wal-Mart gift card. Each child will have the opportunity to shop for Christmas gifts for themselves and for family members as they are escorted through the store. At the end of the child's shopping spree, snacks and gift-wrapping will be provided by volunteers set up in tents outside.
This year we anticipate seeing over 100 children who might not be able to experience the joys of Christmas without this special event.
If you were chosen to be a part of this years program please
read information below:
WHEN: Saturday, December 7th, 2019
(You should have been assigned a shopping time of 9am or 10am)
WHERE: Loganville Walmart (4221 Atlanta Hwy, Loganville, GA 30052)
WHAT: They will receive (1) $100 gift card to shop.
They are to buy gifts for their family and themselves. It is best if they come with a list prepared, this makes shopping a lot quicker. Also they WILL NOT be allowed to buy mature video games with the gift card.
WHY WAS YOUR CHILD CHOSEN: We work with your child's local school and the identify students that would benefit from the program. They might have chosen your child because of need, behavior, or the need for a positive interaction with a law enforcement agent.
