Church at the Grove

Lesson 1 of 3 · 8 min

Why We Serve

Jesus — the most powerful person who ever lived — said He came "not to be served but to serve" (Mark 10:45). Then He washed His friends' feet and told them to do the same.

Serving is discipleship, not duty

At the Grove, serving isn't about filling slots on a roster. It's one of the main ways God grows us. You'll find community faster, discover gifts you didn't know you had, and experience the strange joy Jesus promised: it really is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35).

Everyone has a part

The Bible describes the church as a body — every part needed, no part optional (1 Corinthians 12). There is something only you can bring.

For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
