Church at the Grove

Lesson 2 of 6 · 5 min

Helping People Take Their Next Step

Here's the heartbeat behind every ministry, every team, and every gathering: we exist to help people take their next step toward Jesus. That's our win. That's why we show up.

The Christian life is a series of next steps

When Jesus called His disciples, He didn't hand them a checklist — He simply said, "Follow Me." That's a next step. No one goes from unbelief to spiritual maturity in a single moment; they take small, faithful steps of trust, obedience, and surrender. Volunteering is your next step — and your serving helps other people take theirs.

A next step might be someone attending for the first time, coming back a second time, deciding to follow Jesus, getting baptized, joining a group, discovering their purpose, serving, or giving for the first time. Every next step is a moment where God is moving — and when you serve, you become part of that story.

Every role contributes

You may never see the breakthrough or hear the testimony, but your serving is tied to someone's eternity. A person may take a step toward Jesus because they were greeted warmly, because worship created a sacred moment, because their child loved Grove Kids, because the tech team made the message clear, or simply because they felt safe and welcome.

The real scoreboard

We don't measure success by attendance, production value, or how smoothly the service ran. The scoreboard is simple: are people taking steps toward Jesus? Are lives changing? That's what we're here for — and you are part of it.

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
