Church at the Grove

Lesson 2 of 4 · 12 min

Who Is Jesus?

Almost everyone respects Jesus. But Jesus didn't leave "respect" on the table as an option. His claims about himself were so big that they force a decision.

What Jesus claimed

Jesus claimed the authority to forgive sins (Mark 2:5–7), claimed to be the only way to the Father (John 14:6), and accepted worship (John 20:28–29) — things no mere teacher could honestly do.

Fully God, fully human

Christians believe Jesus is the Son of God: fully God, so He can save us, and fully human, so He understands us. He got tired, wept at a friend's grave, and felt temptation — yet without sin (Hebrews 4:15).

The center of everything

Christianity isn't primarily a moral code or a set of rituals. It's a relationship with a person. That's why the first Christians weren't called "rule-keepers" — they were called followers of the Way.

I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 14:6
