Lesson 3 of 4 · 12 min
Why Trust the Bible?
The Bible isn't one book — it's a library: 66 books, written across roughly 1,500 years, by dozens of authors, in three languages. And yet it tells one unified story that points to Jesus.
What the Bible is
Christians believe the Bible is God's word — that God worked through human authors so that what they wrote is what He wanted said (2 Timothy 3:16). It's the foundation for everything we teach at the Grove.
How to start reading it
Don't start at page one and push through — start with one of the Gospels (we recommend Mark or John) to meet Jesus firsthand. Read a little each day. Ask two questions: What does this show me about God? and What does this mean for my life?
You don't need to be a scholar
The Bible rewards a lifetime of study, but its central message is plain enough for a child: God made you, God loves you, and in Jesus, God came to bring you home.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
Psalm 119:105
