Shop with a hero 2024 Volunteer Information

Every year Church at the Grove partners with local police departments and other civic organizations to help provide Christmas for families in our community. On December 2nd, 2023 we will join together to meet a practical need in the lives of children in our community and bridge the gap of division often existing between children with needs and law enforcement personnel. Children who are considered to be "at-risk" based upon a school counselor's evaluation will each be paired with a member of local law enforcement and given a $125 Wal-Mart gift card; they will have the opportunity to shop for Christmas gifts for themselves and for family members as they are escorted through the store. At the end of each child's shopping spree, snacks and gift wrapping will be provided by volunteers set up in tents outside the store. The event will allow over 100 children who might not be able to experience the joys of Christmas to give and receive gifts this holiday season and to feel the love and compassion of a community that has united in order to demonstrate the true spirit of Christmas!

------------
This year to help keep people safe we will not have a food table with baked goods. Instead, we are asking for people to donate pre-made individually wrapped items, such as: Little Debbie snack cakes, Frito Lay lunchbox size bags, goldfish packs, cheez-its packs, honey buns, small cereal boxes, crackers, animal crackers, granola bars, chips ahoy packs, etc. You can bring these item on any Sunday or drop them off at the building by December 1st.
